Celebrating
25 Years of Ministry
to Danville, VA

Welcome
to the web-based home of Danville, Virginia's St. Luke's United Methodist Church!

The ST. LUKE'S congregation meets every Sunday for worship at 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m., with Sunday School for all ages at 9:45 a.m.   The 8: 30 a.m. service provides a casual worship experience. The 10:45 a.m. service is a more traditional time of worship. We do have particiation by our children's hand bell choir and crystal bells. On the second and fourth Sunday of the month our Youth Worship Team "Soulful" takes part in the worship service.

Our Sunday School provides an opportunity for all ages to come together and study God's Word from Nursery to our older adults.

A new congregation was formed in Danville 25 years ago when Calvary, Sledd Memorial and Piney Forest United Methodist Churches merged to form St. Luke's United Methodist Church. The new church was chartered on April 1, 1988 and they purchased property on North Main Street for a new church building. They worshipped at Sledd Memorial United Methodist Church until July 22, 1990, when they worship for the first time at St. Luke's United Methodist Church at 3090 North Main Street.

On April 14, 2013, we celebrated our 25th Anniversary during the morning worship service. The day began with Sunday School at 9:45 a.m.  Our worship Service at 10:45 a.m. included our former pastor, Rev. Ron Mateer, who brought us the morning message.

We invite you to come and celebrate the next twenty-five years of ministry to the City of Danville.

Greetings From The Pastor
I have been serving as the pastor of St. Luke's for almost 4 years. In June I will have 30 years of service in ministry in the United Methodist Church. Martha and I have been wanting to go to our home in Chesapeake, Virginia for some time to be with our family, esp. our three grand-daughters.
We will be retiring this June at annual conference and a new pastor will be appointed to St. Luke's. We are thankful for our time in Danville and the many in our congregation who have supported our ministry and worked to claim our vision over the last four years, to "Walk by faith and not by sight."
